[5-7] Jude reminds his audience of how Jesus [rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt] yet destroyed the unfaithful Israelites [Psalm 78:10-11, 2 Kings 17:7-8 & 18-20, Jeremiah 32:30, 1 Kings 14:15]. He reminds them about the angels who rebelled against God and now live in [chains or are in a holding place] awaiting their [great day of judgment]. He recalls [Sodom and Gomorrah] and the judgment that befell their immorality and perverse way of living [Genesis 18-19]. He reminds the people of these situations, comparing it to apostasy in the church.
