Philippians 4:4-6

29 January 2019

[4:4-6] There is a commandment for believers to always be joyful in the Lord.  This is a work of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life.  Nehemiah 8:10 says, “…the joy of the Lord is your strength.”  Joy is the source of power in believer’s lives.  Joy filled believers are effective for the cause of Christ, and it is not something that can be made up or faked.  Paul warns the Philippian church to be considerate in all they do.  In other words, he wants them to have deep convictions, but he wants them to reasonable in their convictions.  He wants them to be tender and not given to prejudgment in their deep convictions.

Paul assertively tells the Church to worry about nothing [Vs. 6a], but to pray about everything [Vs. 6b].  Believers in Jesus Christ should be in constant communication with Him.  Everything in life can be brought before the Lord and laid at His feet.  Whenever believers take their problems to God, God helps the believer to not worry about the problem.  Prayer empowers believers in their faith.  God hears and answers His children.
