[11] Chapter 11 is a
Messianic prophecy, which means it tells of the future coming of Christ.
Verse 1 says, “Out of
the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot…”
This is talking about Jesus Christ.
The Spirit of the Lord would rest on Jesus Christ. Whenever Jesus Christ returns, He will rule with
the Holy Spirit’s power. He is full of
wisdom, understanding [spiritual discernment], counsel [Jesus gave counsel He
didn’t ask for counsel], might, knowledge [a study of the Word of God], and
fear of the Lord.
Jesus Christ will judge
with righteousness and destroy the wicked.
Verse 5 says, “He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an
undergarment.” Jesus Christ’s judgment
will be swift and accurate. He doesn’t
judge based on other opinions or ideas. He
will judge by His own holiness and standard for righteousness.
During this time of
peace, the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. Verse 9 says, “Nothing will hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain…so the earth will be filled with people who know the
Lord.” This will be a time of peace.
Verse 11 says, “In that
day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to bring back the remnant of
his people…” Jesus Christ will allow the
meek to inherit the earth just as He did for Israel.
