[3:6-12] God’s anger is coming because of the world sins. God’s holiness must judge the world for its
sin. Paul reminds the Colossians, “now
is the time” to get rid of sin. Don’t wait
another day to get rid of sin and old habits.
Get rid of them, today! He
specifically lists anger, wrath, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. As believers put off this old nature they
should, “Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your
Creator and become like him.” This is a
wonderful picture of what it looks like to have a relationship with Jesus
Christ. Verse 12 says, “Since God chose
you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourself with tenderhearted
mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
