[4:13-23] Paul understands that believers are helpless without Christ. If the believer is depending and seeking the will of God, they can do all the things that God has for the believer. Christ is the one who provides the strength to do the thing that is in His will. Paul makes it very clear that life is not always “perfect” where everything goes just like he wants it to go, but he was secure in his present difficulty.
The Philippian church did wonderful things for God. They were a generous church who enjoyed supporting Paul. No other church supported Paul and he was grateful for their gratitude. Paul wanted God to bless the church of Philippi for their generosity. Verse 18 says that their generosity was a “…sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.”
Philippians 4:23, “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.”
