Ecclesiastes 1:1-5

04 February 2019

[1:1-5] The Teacher is King Solomon, the wisest man according to the wisdom of the world.  He is King David’s son, who ruled in Jerusalem.  He tried everything in life without God.  Whenever Solomon lived his life without God, he found life to be meaningless [Vs. 2].  He found life to be futile and temporary.

“The sun rises and the sun sets, then hurries around to rise again.”  Solomon points out that people are “on the go” trying to find satisfaction against the day to day boredom of life.

The Weaver
- Author Unknown -

My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me,
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.

Oftimes He weaveth sorrow,

And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I, the underside.

Not till the loom in silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful

In the Weaver's skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
