[2:1-10] Paul, Barnabus and Titus go back to Jerusalem [fourteen years later]. Paul went to Jerusalem to meet with the leaders of the church and discuss the doctrine that he had been preaching. Paul wanted to be sure that his message was the same as the disciples’ message [for fear his preaching had been a waste]. Paul and the church leaders message was the same; so, they agreed with one another. The church leaders agreed that Titus didn’t need to be circumcised [even though he was a Gentile]. Paul addresses the Judaizers as [so-called believers] because they were trying to enslave Christians to follow Jewish regulations. Paul wanted to preserve the truth of the Gospel. The leaders of the church saw that Paul was commissioned by God to preach to the Gentiles, just as Peter preached to the Jews. It was apparent that the same God worked through Paul and Peter. James, Peter, and John [pillars of the church] accepted Barnabus and Paul as their co-workers of the faith. They encouraged Barnabus and Paul to keep preaching to the Gentiles. Their only suggestion was to help the poor along the way.
