[1:1-3] Isaiah saw these visions during the reign of King Uzziah [good king], King Jotham [good king], King Ahaz [bad king], and king Hezekiah [bad king].
The people rebelled against God in disobedience. Because of this, the Lord charges the nation of Judah with rebellion and rejection. Verse 3 says, “Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes it's master’s care – but Israel doesn’t know its master. My people don’t recognize my care for them.” These two animals are not intelligent, yet they recognize the person that provides for them; they know their master. God’s people lived worse than an animal. They did not care that they were raised and cared for by God.
